Trucking Along - making some great cards with this cute truck stamp and punch

 Suitable for young and old - this Truck stamp

   

Is part of the Trucking Along bundle from Stampin' Up! It has some great 'loads' that the truck can carry, including a Christmas Tree, a stack of presents, plants, a palm tree and surfboard and some sunflowers. There is a matching punch too, so no fussy cutting of the truck is needed.

Add in some trees, the truck of course, clouds and road and you have a very versatile stamp set indeed. All of the items have co-ordinating filler stamps, or you can colour the images themselves if you prefer.

You can see above, my first example, using the presents and the sunflowers, with that lovely Gingham paper behind the Scalloped die. These are layered on standard sized A6 cards, so the Gingham layer measures 10cm x 14.35cm.  You can see the video on the basic card by clicking on the photo above.

It was our #stampsetoftheweek, so was used at coffee and card for all 3 sessions.

Of course, I had to make a Christmas version, using the popular One Horse Open Sleigh papers for the background. These papers are just perfect to have something placed in front of them. I took the colour inspiration from the marina Mist backing paper.

Although we made many cards with this bundle during the week, my final card was my favourite, using the Flying Seagull card design from Susan Campfield, a demonstrator in the USA. I converted the sizing for UK cards. You can see the full video of how to make this card in the video below.

There are some usedful sentiments in the stamp set too. The papers and the bundle are from our Online Exclusive range - you won't see them in a printed catalogue.

Inked and Tiled Collection from Stampin' Up!

This collection features some stunning papers and a stamp set, as well as the punches which make great cards for everyone. You can just use the punches in their own right with papers or card of your choice.  You can see our #coffeeandcard design being created in this video:

I just used Basic White card to form a square card base, cut some thin strips of  Basic Black card for the grid and added the Good Luck sentiment from Charming sentiments.

Our second video of the week featured two cards which I made with the stamp set and some of the papers. 

The first card was very popular indeed with many people saying that was their favourite of all the cards with that stamp set. The inspiration was all from the Inked Botanical papers.

The second card (on the right) was made with viewers choice of colours - we ended up with Fresh Freesia and Bubble Bath - such a soft pretty card - what do you think?

Fun with Swirly Frames and Pop of Petals for quick and easy cards

Fun with Swirly Frames and Pop and Petals

We had great fun at coffee and cards making these simple stamped desgins using 2 stamp sets from Stampin' Up!

For the frames you can see in the background, we used the Swirly Frames stamp set, with the addition of Pop of Petals flower stamps,together with the four petal flower punch.

We made two designs - the first based on a square card, and the second using our rectangular note cards and envelopes. You can see both styles below.

We started by stamping the frame shape of choice onto a Whisper White card layer. This can be stamped in your flower colour of choice, or a contrasting colour if preferred.   In my top sample I used Sahara Sand for the circle and the leaves, and Blackberry Bliss for the flower images and the sentiment.

 In the photo below you can see some of the ladies having fun with these designs at our Thursday afternoon session in Hummingbirds Bistro, Brackley.

 

It's great that there is a matching punch for the 5 flowers (and the butterfly) from the Pop of Petals set. I always recommend marking the bottom of each flower stamp,\to make it easier to align in the punch. You can see how I did this on my Facebook LIVE video and You Tube videos.

The stamp set also has different leaf images, which suit a variety of styles. I think we used all of the leaf images and all of the flower designs between us at our sessions!

Butterfly Wishes - an easy favourite

Butterfly Wishes from the new 2019-20 Stampin' Up! Catalogue

was the perfect choice for my coffee and card sessions last week. It is one of those stamp sets that produces great results, regardless of what you do with it. All of the work has been done for you, with the shading built into the stamp itself - one of our ©Distinktive stamp designs from Stampin' Up!

I thought that the set lent itself to bookmarks too, so everyone was given the choice of 2 cards, 2 bookmarks or once of each! In the photo above, I used one of our new In Colours Pretty Peacock, matched with Early Espresso. I used our notecard and envelopes for the card, with a background layer of Pretty Peacock, and the bookmark was stamped with Coastal Cabana and Pretty Peacock on the top.  What you can't see in the photos is the fact that some of  the bookmarks are stamped on the reverse, making a great finished project.

NEW Facebook LIVE and You Tube videos

I am so excited to announce that you can now find me live on Facebook and You Tube.

Each week I design a different set of simple cards for our coffee and card sessions.  I have finally decided to bite the bullet and showcase the making of these cards after all of the sessions are complete.  The idea behind this is:

• It acts as a reminder if you have attended a session and want to refresh your memory
• If you miss a session, you can catch up on the cards and see what we made
• If you are too far away to attend, you can see in detail how we made the cards.

NEW Coffee and Card session launched

Perfect to have a go at card making if it's new to you,
great if you want to get to know some local crafters.

I am really pleased to report that due to continued growth and support of our coffee and card sessions we are now running 3 sessions per week.

•  Monday 9:30-10:30am at 185 Watling Street, Towcester £6 per person
•  Wednesday 10-11am at Hummingbirds Bistro, Brackley £5 per person
• Thursday 3-4pm at Hummingbirds Bistro, Brackley. £5 per person

These groups are an informal drop in craft session, where you can enjoy good company, an excellent cup of coffee (or tea/hot chocolate) and make up to 2 cards to take home with you. There is no need to bring any craft supplies with you, as everything is provided.

These sessions are suitable for complete beginners as well as accomplished crafters.  Here is a little video peek into the end of one of our sessions last week when we were making floral cards in Brackley:

There is no need to book for these sessions, the current age range of attendees is 3 years through to 93 years and full tuition is included! Many of the cards featured on our Facebook page are from coffee and card. The sessions are repeated, so if you miss Wednesday's session, you are welcome to join us on Thursday.  Of course, you can always come to all 3!

We run right through the year, and most Bank Holidays except Christmas. Children are welcome to attend as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Each week we have a different theme, and I like to incorporate seasonal dates, such as Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day etc. However, I do try to have alternative sentiments available for everyday use at all times.

Cats vs dogs - which is your favourite?

So are you a cat person or a dog person?

According to © Google "25% of the UK adult have a cat with an estimated population of 11.1 million pet cats and 24% of the UK adult population have a dog with an estimated population of 8.9 million pet dogs", so it looks like cats win at the moment !

Calorie free cupcakes anyone?

I do love cupcakes, especially ones with lovely thick icing, but I don't like the amount of calories they contain! So I decided for coffee and card last week that we would use the FREE Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration stamp set called Hello Cupcake - calorie FREE! You can click on the image below to see more details.

I decided to use our Very Vanilla notecards and envelopes this week, as I thought the vanilla would make the icing more realistic. You can buy these in packs of 20 cut and scored cards and envelopes for just £6.00, which is just 30p per card and envelope.

I used some of our brown inks, Soft Suede and Early Espresso for the card on the right - the perfect chocolate cupcake!  The Treat Yourself sentiment comes from Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set.

With this card above, we used a Very Vanilla layer cut with our NEW Rectangular Stitched Framelits, stamping the flower in Bermuda Bay as a background layer.

There is of course, Valentines Day around the corner, so I had to try and make a Valentines card, using some Poppy Parade and Merry Merlot inks. I also added the little red Gem rhinestone embelishments, though you can't see these too well in the photo above. #valentine

Colouring in for Mindfulness

This morning's session at Coffee and Card featured this fabulous stamp set called Lovely Lattice, perfect for those that love colouring in, using any medium you prefer.  This stamp set can be yours for free if you order £45 or more from any current catalogue or available products online from Stampin' Up! For our session today, we stamped the image using Memento ink (black). We then used Stampin' Up! Blends pens which are alcohol markers and sold individually in a wide range of Stampin' Up! colours. You could also use our ink pads, and water based marker pens too.  I made some thank you cards as I use many of these in my business, and you can see my original sample below.

I also included a stepped up version, which features a new Lace embossing folder on the background layer as you can see below. I also cut out the image itself with our paper snips. The Fabulous Friend message was added to one of the Banners in our matching stamp and die set 'Banners for You' - a really versatile set. 

We used Whisper White notecards and envelopes (as we often do for coffee and card) and added a coloured layer behind, chosen to co-ordinate with the coloured flowers.
